👋 Hello, Potential New Client!
Welcome!
My approach is a little different than most educational consultants - so before you browse my intro packages, here’s how much they cost, and what’s included.
I don’t charge by the hour. A monthly package keeps costs from escalating, and gives you support that goes beyond the ‘one-hour’ session.
My intro packages cost $3250, and take 4-5 weeks - enough time to do a full intake, and make a meaningful result happen. It’s a great way to test me out.
Everything you need is included. That means one-on-one sessions, sessions with my tutoring team (as needed), a full intake, family/teacher interviews, in-between chat support, personalized curriculum …. and more.
I’m creative and will come up with lots of ideas - your package includes whatever I can reasonably do to help us accomplish our shared goal!
A few examples of how you can use your “Month of Awesome”
-
Lots of smart kids hate school. And a lot of the time -- they have a point! School can be at once boring and overwhelming, teaching everything except what really matters to a strong-minded and intelligent person.
✔️ Spend a month remaking your approach to school and look at unique options to handle your unique situation.
✔️ Develop passions and interests and get learning outside of school (in case school can't deliver what you really need)
✔️ Take control of your learning life in school and out.
_________
It's not easy having a gifted mind and I LOVE helping kids see how they can change their approach to school (and learning in general)
⭐ I've been doing this specific type of program - including making sure kids get credit for all their work - since 2004!
⭐ Kids often feel quite liberated by this process, and that makes life better on every level. Decreased stress really makes a difference.
⭐ It's so fun for parents to see what's possible for their kids when they become more relaxed about learning, and get to use their high-powered brains!
-
When I help students learn online, they often increase their marks and decrease their stress. In BC there’s 55 schools to choose from, and they work just like regular public schools.
✔️Get credits just like the ones you get at your ‘in person’ school
✔️Work fully online, or take a few courses online while you stay at your school.
✔️ Learn to use your strengths and avoid challenges like test anxiety.
✔️ Get core academic credits, or unique enrichment credits you can’t get at your ‘in person’ school
________
I know a ton about online learning, especially in BC. I’ve been providing programs to kids working online for nearly 20 years, and I’ve seen it all. I know about funding, accrediting, and most importantly, how to make the learning experience valuable.
⭐ I’ve worked with online schools across the province and know the pluses and minuses to each.
⭐ I’ve helped 100s of kids graduate online, and go to their post-secondary school of choice.
⭐ I help kids find the most efficient route to finishing, while making sure the learning sticks.
⭐ Kids often see a big grade increase, even though the courses can be more difficult, because they’re able to work in a way that works.
-
I love when kids have deep interests and strong passions - no matter what they are! I show my students how to nurture their curiosity, building skills and deep knowledge as they go.
✔️ Spend a month going deep into your area of interest
✔️ Share all you know, and find new avenues to explore
✔️ Discover how your interest works ‘in the real world’ and learn about career opportunities (if you want to)
✔️ Create projects, exhibitions, and other outputs that share what you’ve learned in our month.
_________
These students are so fun! I love exploring what a student finds relevant and exciting to learn, and I’ve been doing it since I began in the education field.
⭐ I’m currently hired by public schools to work with kids who have unique passions and interests.
⭐ I’ve worked with kids on SO many interests: from animals, to brains, to trains, to …… you name it, I’ve done it!
⭐ My past ‘deep dive’ students find my curiosity and excitement for learning inspiring
⭐ We often use these passions as a jumping off point for further exploration.

Guess what, I’m not just an educator! I’m also an entrepreneur who’s sold his first company, a researcher who’s published on a variety of topics, and a technologist who owns an online learning platform. I have a degree in economics and psychology, in addition to my masters in Educational Psychology. I make music, do live theatre, and volunteer with my local neighbourhood house. I’m engaged in politics and journalism. And I’m about to publish my first podcast.
There’s NOTHING I love more than sharing this wide knowledge base with my students.
✔️ Learn how invisible forces shape our lives and choices.
✔️ Tell me what you wonder about, and we’ll investigate it together.
✔️ Find out if you might enjoy econ, psych, philosophy, or other university subjects with a mini deep-dive
✔️ Learn the things that school doesn’t teach
________
Way back in 2001, I was planning to go be a rock star in Toronto (😂). At the time I mostly tutored math. Then, one of my students needed to leave school, and we started exploring the wider world of knowledge….and I realized that I need to teach!!! I changed my plans and started working with more enrichment clients.
⭐ I’ve done educational buffets with kids as young as 7 …. all the way up to adults who want to pick up some of what they missed in school.
⭐ Kids LOVE these deep dives, because I build the program on top of what they’re wondering about, and I use a curious-wondering approach rather than giving them ‘delivered truths’
⭐ If kids are game, I often jump between science, media, and art, on the same topic.
⭐ I find that learning about the wider world can sometimes help feel more motivated for school and formal learning

✔️Do better in math class

✔️Do better in school (and enjoy it more!)
✔️Less need for parents to manage school
✔️Use your strengths to reduce stress and do awesome things
✔️Get help with school meetings and learning plans
_________
I've done this so many times! The key is building a totally unique 'school success' program for each kid.
⭐I've worked with 100s of kids who need holistic school support - by the end, they enjoy school so much more! (I love that).
⭐I'm hired by public schools to implement unique and specialized learning plans for students. (Since ~ 2009)
⭐I meet with teachers, counsellors, and admin to help improve learning programs for my studnets.
⭐My published research is in areas of self-regulated learning and help seeking.

I love working with kids who hate writing, or struggle to do it. I get it! I use an interest-based approach, and we make writing fun and doable.
✔️ Write for school, or learn to write about what you love (or both).
✔️ Stop spending hours staring at a blank screen (learn how to get started!).
✔️ Find your ‘voice’ as a writer, and write with a style that’s your own.
✔️ Express all the complex ideas floating around in your head.
________
So many kids struggle with output! It can be an underlying learning disability, stress under pressure, or any of a wide variety of possible causes. I’ve seen them all, and I use a kind, low-stress, method to get kids writing.
⭐ I’ve helped kids write better at all ages: from Elementary School to University
⭐ I’m a master at making it meaningful, which means my students are game to write and eager to share the results.
⭐ I focus on both process and output - so that the work quality is better, but the process less painful.
⭐ Kids love seeing their work improve, and they usually hear about it from their teachers, too.

After the month
When the month is done, you can just take your learning upgrade, and go make use of it without buying anything more - I’m always here if you need my help in the future.
Or, like many of my students, you might want to keep going after the intro package - I’ve worked with some students for as long as a decade! Visit my services/bio page for more on what I offer and how much it costs, after your “month of awesome” is over.
Here’s what to expect (roughly) during your month. Every kid is different.
Week 1: The first week is a fun and inspiring launch to the month. We’ll have a bunch of meetings and mini-sessions with the student, parents, and anyone else who is an important part of your kid’s education.
It’s a fun, energizing burst of activity, as I get to know your kid, how they learn, and what they want to accomplish.
Weeks 2-4: After week 1, we start making progress on the main goal, with one-on-one sessions, custom learning materials, in-between session support for kids and parents.
Wrap Up: We celebrate our wins! As we wrap up, I make sure parents and other teachers/tutors are in place to continue the good work we’ve been doing.
